China’s Industrial Economy Operation Annual Report (2015-2016) was released by the Institute of Industrial Economics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences on March 28 in Beijing. The report acknowledged the grim situation of the country’s industrial economics in 2016, calling attention to the increased risk brought by overproduction and overcapacity. It goes on to list other challenges plaguing the economy, such as the risk of declining domestic investment, as well as a general lack of innovative capacity and vitality among companies in the face of downward pressure. Yet, the report also writes that industrial development has reached a crucial stage that presents a number of strategic opportunities, and steady progress is the main theme. The report predicts that growth in 2016 will speed up relative to its current rate.
