The sixth Forum of Industrial Development in China was held recently in Beijing. It was hosted by the Institute of Industrial Economics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Attending scholars agreed that the quality of real economy should be improved from the aspects of industry, enterprise and product to promote a transformation of China’s real economy from big to strong. The real economy needs to transform in accordance with the consumption upgrade to raise the level of industrial structures and capabilities required for sustainable growth through technological innovation. At the enterprise level, the disposal of the "zombie enterprises" should be combined with efforts to cultivate world-class enterprises and the environment for innovation and development also need be improved and the overall quality of enterprises need be enhanced. In addition, it is necessary to strengthen the innovation and management system and to enhance added value and quality of the products.
