Jointly organized by CASS and the Zagreb School of Economics and Management in Croatia, the symposium “16+1: Current Cooperation and Its Future” as part of the China-Croatia Think Tanks Forum was held in Croatia on April 8. CASS Vice President Wang Jingqing attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

Wang said that ever since China and Croatia established diplomatic ties 27 years ago, exchanges and cooperation in various fields between both sides have developed smoothly. Adhering to the principles of openness, effectiveness and inclusiveness over the years, “16+1 Cooperation” has motivated relations between China and Central and Eastern countries (CEEC) while forging an important engine for deepening the China-EU Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.

The China-CEE Institute and China-CEEC Think Tanks Network (aka the 16+1 Think Tanks Network) will make joint efforts with Croatian think tanks and research institutions to provide intelligent support for promoting cooperation between China and Croatia as well as between China and CEEC, Wang stressed.

Djuro Njavro, dean of the Zagreb School of Economics and Management, said that the school is one of the best business colleges in Croatia. It is a great pleasure to organize the symposium with CASS on the eve of Chinese Premier Li Keqiang’s visit to Croatia to attend the eighth CEEC leaders’ meeting. Scholars of both sides are encouraged to deeply discuss issues such as economic and trade cooperation, and China-Croatia relations under the 16+1 framework, providing more insights for pushing forward cooperation between China and CEEC.
