On June 21, CASS President Xie Fuzhan met with visiting Czech Ambassador to China Vladimír Tomšík and his delegation.

Xie said that the Czech Republic is an important country in the Central and Eastern European (CEE) region. CASS maintains friendly relations with Czech academic institutions, and it hopes to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with relevant Czech think tanks in such fields as China-Czech financial cooperation and green development under the background of the high-quality development of the Belt and Road (B&R) initiative.

Tomšík spoke highly of the achievements made by China and the Czech Republic since the two countries established diplomatic ties 70 years ago. He said that intensifying exchange in the humanities will enhance mutual understanding between the two peoples and their relationship. He hopes that cooperation between CASS and relevant Czech research institutions will be actively pushed forward on the platforms of the B&R and China-CEE cooperation.
