Sponsored by the Macao Special Administrative Region (SAR) Government, the International Forum on the “Cultural Mission of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” was held in Macao on August 12. Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee Edmund Ho Hau-wah, Chief Executive of the Macao SAR Chui Sai On, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR Carrie Lam Cheng Yuet-ngor, Governor of the People’s Government of Guangdong Province Ma Xingrui and CASS President Xie Fuzhan attended the forum.

In his address, Xie said that promoting the Greater Bay Area construction helps Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao play a supporting and leading role in national high-quality economic development, establishing a new and more open economic system. This move is also of significance for Hong Kong and Macao’s integration into the national overall development strategy and the maintaining of their long-term prosperity and stability.

Entering the new era, Greater Bay Area construction has given Macao a new cultural turning point. Chinese culture will continue to be the mainstream here, while the coexistence of diverse cultures will bring advantages, and international humanities exchanges will expand. Macao is serving as a bridge for China’s communication with the rest of the world, Xie said.
