Annual Report of Environmental Quality Comprehensive Evaluation in China (2018) released

The Annual Report of Environmental Quality Comprehensive Evaluation in China (2018) was released on April 26 at Xi’an Jiaotong University.

The report summarizes existing achievements in environmental quality evaluation based on the three past reports. It establishes an environmental pollution emission index, an environmental absorption factor index and a comprehensive index of environmental quality according to 10 selected pollution emission targets, including chemical oxygen demand, amount of carbon dioxide emissions, output of industrial solid wastes, and amounts of used chemical fertilizer and pesticide as well as six environmental absorption factor targets including green urban land area, average relative humidity, annual precipitation, the total amount of water resources, wetland area and forestry area. Thus, on the basis of the index results, the report can help judge levels of environmental quality nationwide and in all areas, summarize the principles behind changing environmental quality, and analyze key factors affecting environmental quality.
