Huang Shaoxiang, female, Han nationality, born in May, 1915, is a native of Linli, Hunan Province and became a member of the Communist Party of China in June, 1936 at Tsing Hua University. In 1946, she graduated as a postgraduate from the Graduate School of Columbia University, where she majored in American history. She is a professor and PhD student advisor with the Institute of World History at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. She was the director and consultant to the China Society for American History and director of the China Society for History. Her academic expertise is American history. Since 1991 she has enjoyed a special allowance awarded by the State Council.
