Gao Mang, male, Han nationality, born in October, 1926, is a native of Haerbin, Heilongjiang Province and a member of the Communist Party of China. In 1943, he graduated from Harbin YMCA. He is the compiler for the Institute of Foreign Literature at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He was the chief editor of World Literature; director of the Translators Association of China. He is a member of the Chinese Writers Association and China Artists Association. He is the director of the China Society for Friendship Studies. His academic expertise is Russian literature. In 1997, he was awarded the “Friendship” medal by the Russian president. In 1999, he was granted an honorary doctorate by the Far East Research Institute. In 2006, he was awarded the Gorky medal by the Russian Writers Association. In 2006, he was also entitled as an honorary academician by the Russian Art Research Institute.
