Chen Zhihua, male, Han nationality, born in June, 1934, is a native of Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province and a member of the Communist Party of China. In 1959, he graduated from the department of history at the Saint Petersburg State University as a graduate student. He is a researcher and PhD student advisor to the Institute of World History at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. His academic expertise is the history of the Soviet Union. Since 1959, he has worked at the teaching and research section of Renmim University. In 1978, he was transferred to work in the Institute of World History at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences and worked respectively as the director at the socialism research office, vice-director, and chief editor of World History, president of the Chinese research Institute of the Soviet Union and Eastern European History. Since 1992 he has enjoyed a special allowance awarded by the State Council. In 2001, he was entitled as an academician by The China Science Center of the International Eurasian Academy of Sciences
