Shao Rongfen, male, Han nationality, born in December, 1922, is a native of Shouxian, Anhui Province and a member of the Communist Party of China. In 1950, he graduated from the department of Chinese at Zhejiang University as a postgraduate student He is a researcher with the Institute of Linguistics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and consultant at the Chinese Phonology Institute. His academic expertise is Chinese phonetics and lexicology. Since 1992 he has enjoyed a special allowance awarded by the State Council.
