Gu Yuanyang, male, Han nationality, born in December, 1934, is a native of Dalian, Liaoning Province and a member of the Communist Party of China. In July, 1961, he graduated from the department of oriental languages at Peking University as a graduate student. He is a researcher and PhD student advisor with the Institute of World Economics and Politics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Director of the Asian and African Institute of the Development Research Center of the State Council. Honorary researcher at the Japan and North Pacific Regional Research Institute. His academic expertise is economic development and the world economy. Since 1992 he has enjoyed a special allowance awarded by the State Council
