·Li Cong

Li Cong, male, Han nationality, born in January, 1928, is a native of Fengrun, Hebei Province and a member of the Communist Party of China. In July, 1950, he graduated from the department of electrical engineering of Tsinghua University as a graduate student. He is a consultant to the Chinese Society of World Economy and China National Association for International Studies. From 1953 to 1958, he worked in the translation and world economy section of the National Development and Reform Commission. In 1958, he was transferred to the department of philosophy and social sciences at the Chinese Academy of Science and continued his research in the world economy. In 1964, he worked as research group leader, and director of the office and vice-director of the Institute of World Economy. From 1982 to 1988, he worked respectively as vice-director and director of the Institute of European Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. From 1988 to 1993, he became director of the Institute of World Economics and Politics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. His academic expertise is world economy and international relations. Since 1991 he has enjoyed a special allowance awarded by the State Council.
