Wu Chengming, male, Han nationality, born in January, 1917, is a native of Luan County, Hebei Province and a member of the Communist Party of China. In 1946, he graduated from the department of economics at Columbia University as a postgraduate student. He is a researcher and PhD student advisor with the Institute of Economics at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Consultant at the Chinese Economic History Society, and Director at the Association of National History of the People’s Republic of China. His academic expertise is Chinese economic history. Since 1991 he has enjoyed a special allowance awarded by the State Council.
