Yu Guangyua, male and from the Han ethnic group, born in July 1915, is a native of Shanghai and a member of the Communist Party of China. He graduated from Tsinghua University, department of physics with a Bachelor of Science degree. He is the former vice-president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and he became a member of the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in 1955; he is also an honorary president of the Chinese Society for Dialectics of Nature, honorary president of the China Society of Territorial Economists, honorary president of the China Society of Technology Economics, and honorary president of the Pacific Society of China. His academic specialties are economics and philosophy.
