Ding Shouhe, male and from the Han ethnic group, born in April 1925, is a native of Wangdu, Hebei Province and a member of the Communist Party of China. In 1948, he graduated from the department of social sciences of the North China University ( it is now called the Renmin University of China) as a graduate student. He is a researcher and PhD student advisor of the Institute of Modern History of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, and the President and honorary president of the Society of Chinese Modern Culture, He has also served in the past as Director of the Center for China Studies and of the editorial department of Historical Research, and as the Editorial Director of Modern Chinese History Studies. His academic expertise is Chinese modern history and history of Chinese culture. Since 1991, he has started to enjoy a special allowance awarded by the State Council.
