Daobu, male, Mongolian, born in November 15th, 1934, is a native of Chengde, Rehe Province (currently Hebei Province) and a member of the Communist Party of China. He Studied at the Beijing Mongolian and Tibetan School. He graduated in Mongolian, at the department of language and literature, Minzu College of China in 1957. He served as an assistant researcher at the Institute of Ethnology in 1979,and researcher in 1986. He was named an Honorary Member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 2006. His main area of research is the Mongolian language and policy regarding language and literature towards nationalities. He was once the director of the Ethnic Minority Study Center of China, dean and PhD student advisor at the department of nationalities Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, a member of the State Language Commission of China, and vice-president of the Chinese Linguistics Society. In 1997, he was recruited as a part-time professor at the Inner Mongolia University. He is currently a consultant with the Chinese National Language Society.
