Xu Chongwen, male, Han nationality, born in July, 1930, is a native of Wuxi, Jiangsu Province and a member of the Communist Party of China. He is an Honorary Member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, Consultant of the Chinese Association of Scientific Socialism, Academic Consultant to the Beijing Institute of Theoretical System of Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, Researcher and PhD student advidor to the Institute of Philosophy of the Chinese Academy of Social Science,.and Specially recruited researcher with the Academy of Marxism of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. Since 1991, he has enjoyed a special allowance awarded by the State Council. In 1952, he graduated from Soochow University’s Law School and was a judge on the Supreme People’s court of the People’s Republic of China and inspector of the Supreme People’s Procuratorate of the People’s Republic of China. In 1956, he entered the Institute of Philosophy of the Chinese Academy of Sciences as a PhD. After graduating, he worked at the institute and studied historical materialism, the history of Marxist philosophy, modern western philosophy, western Marxist, democratic socialism, Deng Xiaoping Theory and scientific socialism.
