Zhang Zexian, male, Han nationality, born in December, 1929, is a native of Ningxiang, Hunan Province. He is a researcher, PhD student advisor and an honorary member of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He was a part-time professor at the University of Shandong and Shanghai Normal University. He started work in 1949 and graduated from the department of history at Wuhan University, he was transferred to work in the Department of Philosophy and Social Sciences of China, Institute of History; he was a scientific committee member. His main areas of research are the economic and political histories of China and the Han, Wei-Jin-North-South, Sui, and Tang periods.
