Ma Xisha
Ma Xisha, born in November 1943, is a native of Beijing. From 1964 to 1969, he studied in the department of Chinese of Peking University and became a middle school teacher and teacher of the Beijing Language and Culture University within ten years of his graduation. From 1978 to 1982, he studied in the research center of Qing history of China’s Renmin University, and later achieved a master’s degree in history. From 1982 until today, he worked in the Institute of World Religion of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. During this period of time, from 1991 to 1992, he traveled to Universitaet Hannover as a visiting professor and from 2000 to 2001, he went to Tokai University as a special regional expert to promote cooperative study. His academic expertise is in Taoism and folk religion.
