Energy dilemmas in Asia discussed

Author:     Source: Chinese Social Sciences Today     2014-06-30

The launch conference for the Annual Development Report on World Energy (2014) (Blue Book of World Energy) was held from June 16 to 17 in Beijing. In his speech at the event, CASS vice president Li Peilin said energy security is a major issue faced by the world, especially China as high energy-consumption country. Experts at the forum discussed problems and potential areas for cooperation related to energy development in the Asia-Pacific region. They maintained that major energy dilemmas in Asia include the lack of modern energy infrastructure, high reliance on imports, sensitivity of domestic economies towards energy price fluctuations and low bargaining power in energy trade.
