On Sept. 28, the press conference for the release of the Blue Book of Combating Corruption and Upholding Integrity: Report on Combating Corruption and Upholding Integrity in China No. 8 was held in Beijing. The conference was co-hosted by the China AntiCorruption Research Center at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS) and Social Sciences Academic Press (China). The Blue Book No.8 proposes to make the building of an honest and upright China a national strategy, a new initiative against corruption.

Since 2011, research teams from the China Integrity Research Center at CASS have been doing comprehensive follow-up studies on the punishment and prevention of corruption in China and publishing research results every year.

Wang Jingqing, vice president of CASS and director of the China Integrity Research Center, said that the Blue Book of Combating Corruption and Upholding Integrity series has objectively documented the evolution of full and strict governance within the Communist Party of China (CPC) before and after the 18th National Congress of the CPC when China’s anti-corruption campaign started, and it has precious historical value.

Wang pointed out that it is necessary to conform to the trend of the times and pursue an “honest and upright China.” To this end, we should pay close attention to the new practices of combating corruption and upholding integrity in local governments, and we should summarize the government’s new experiences and achievements to provide future reference about the building of an honest and upright China.

Li Qiufang, former head of the Discipline Inspection Team dispatched by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC to CASS, said that to curb corruption in China requires all Party members to contribute more political wisdom and all experts to offer policy advice more responsibly. The initiative to build an “honest and upright China” as a national strategy is an inspiring strategic goal in the fight against corruption.
