BISHKEK—On Jan. 28, a book house dedicated to the works of General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping was inaugurated in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. Gao Xiang, president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), and Arslan Koichiev, state secretary of Kyrgyzstan, delivered remarks at the ceremony and jointly unveiled the book house. Distinguished attendees included Karim Khanjeza, deputy speaker of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan; Liu Jiangping, Chinese ambassador to Kyrgyzstan; Gulzat Isamatova, minister of Science, Higher Education, and Innovation of Kyrgyzstan; and Dogdurbek Chontoev, rector of Kyrgyz National University (KNU).
In his speech, Gao noted that since the beginning of the new era, under the wise leadership of General Secretary Xi Jinping, the Chinese people have addressed challenges with resolve and advanced with a pioneering spirit, creating two “miracles”—rapid economic development and long-term social stability—that are rarely seen globally, and pursuing a path to modernization that aligns with China’s national conditions and reflects its distinct characteristics.
As the magnificent scroll of Chinese modernization continues to unroll, Gao said, interest within the international community in understanding China’s approaches to governance has been growing. Many seek to better understand the ideas underpinning China’s development and to draw lessons from its experience in addressing challenges along the path to modernization.
The establishment of the book house at KNU, Gao emphasized, offers an important platform for the Kyrgyz side to gain a deeper understanding of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, better appreciate the history and theoretical foundations of the CPC, and strengthen exchanges of experience in governance and administration between China and Kyrgyzstan. It also serves as a bridge for mutual understanding and exchanges for those who follow developments in China and are engaged in China–Kyrgyzstan cooperation. In addition, the book house opens a “gateway of thought” for people from various sectors in Kyrgyzstan to better understand China and the CPC. Through this platform, Gao added, readers can gain a more tangible sense of a China advancing with determination and persistence, as well as a clearer understanding of the country’s reform momentum and development progress, its approaches to governance, and its path toward national rejuvenation.
“Today, we have jointly witnessed a moment of exceptional significance,” remarked Koichiev in his address, adding that the book house for the works of General Secretary Xi Jinping will provide a key window for students, faculty, and readers to acquire a deeper understanding of Chinese culture and civilization. Expressing his hope that students, as the first readers, diligently study classic Chinese works, Koichiev explained that the book house offers a crucial opportunity to study the history of the CPC more systematically, and that by engaging with General Secretary Xi Jinping’s works, “we can gradually deepen our comprehension of the Party’s great practices.” Ultimately, he explained, the book house will become an essential platform for disseminating ideas, inspiring wisdom, and promoting inter-civilizational exchange.
The book house for General Secretary Xi Jinping’s works is a joint initiative of CASS and KNU. It offers readers a collection of over 2,000 volumes in Chinese and other languages, primarily comprising major works and key discourses by General Secretary Xi Jinping, as well as publications examining and interpreting Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era. These include academic studies on initiatives proposed by General Secretary Xi Jinping, such as building a community with a shared future for humanity; the Global Development Initiative, the Global Security Initiative, the Global Civilization Initiative, and the Global Governance Initiative; and the Belt and Road Initiative. The book house also provides access to database resources from China’s National Center for Philosophy and Social Sciences Documentation.
