TASHKENT--On Jan. 29, a book house dedicated to the works of General Secretary of the CPC Central Committee Xi Jinping was inaugurated in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan. Gao Xiang, president of the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS), and Sodiq Safoyev, First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan and rector of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy (UWED), delivered speeches at the ceremony and jointly unveiled the book house. Distinguished attendees included Yu Jun, Chinese Ambassador to Uzbekistan, and Akram Azamatovich, first vice rector of UWED.

In his speech, Gao noted that since the beginning of the new era, under the wise leadership of General Secretary Xi Jinping, the Chinese people have achieved a series of pioneering advances, major reforms, and historic accomplishments in socioeconomic development, creating “miracles” that have drawn wide international attention. He added that as China takes new and steady steps toward modernization, comprehensive cooperation between China and Uzbekistan continues to expand across a wide range of sectors, with both sides firmly supporting each other’s development visions and goals and standing as partners in pursuing modernization.

The establishment of the book house at UWED, a prestigious Uzbek higher education institution, offers an important platform for Uzbekistan to deepen its understanding of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, gain deeper insight into the history and theoretical foundations of the CPC, and strengthen exchanges of experience in governance and administration between China and Uzbekistan. Gao expressed the hope that the platform would further facilitate the sharing of governance experience, promote exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations, contribute to the development of both countries, and support joint efforts to build a richer and more dynamic China–Uzbekistan community with a shared future.

CASS will continue to support the development of the book house, expressing confidence that it will play an important role in cultivating talent at UWED committed to China–Uzbekistan friendship and cooperation, fostering mutual understanding and learning among those interested in China and engaged in China–Uzbekistan exchanges, and opening an “intellectual gateway” for people from all sectors in Uzbekistan to better understand China and the CPC. CASS believes that the book house will present China as a hopeful, vibrant, and forward-looking country, enable a more genuine appreciation of its reform momentum and development progress, and encourage more comprehensive exploration of China’s approach to state governance and national rejuvenation.

In his remarks, Safoyev noted that the book house constitutes an excellent platform for studying the Chinese path to modernization and gaining insight into China’s evolving development landscape. He said that the works of President Xi Jinping on display at the book house can help readers better understand China’s development trajectory and draw lessons from its development experience. The book house, he added, provides space for a range of activities—such as courses and academic seminars—through which further collaborative projects can be carried out to deepen the study of China’s development experience. Safoyev expressed the hope that the book house would serve as a dynamic medium for exchange, enabling a more comprehensive and in-depth understanding of contemporary China. He noted that bilateral relations are currently at their highest level in history, and said that this newly launched avenue of cooperation would become another bridge between the two countries, bring their peoples closer together while laying a solid intellectual foundation for building an all-weather comprehensive strategic partnership for a new era.

The book house for General Secretary Xi Jinping’s works is a joint initiative of CASS and UWED. It houses more than 1,500 volumes in Chinese, Uzbek, and other languages, including the Uzbek editions of Xi Jinping: The Governance of China and Up and Out of Poverty. The book house primarily features important works and key remarks by General Secretary Xi Jinping, as well as scholarly publications on Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, with particular emphasis on research related to the Chinese path to modernization. It also provides readers with access to database resources from China’s National Center for Philosophy and Social Science Documentation.
